  but that breaks printing through the RDS session. A 120 day fix is to delete this key on the SERVER side:
  The solution is to open the registry editor on the affected session hosts and browse to the following:

  HKLMSystemCurrentControlSetControlTerminal ServerRCM

  If the ‘GracePeriod’ key exists you will need to delete it.

  You will have to take ownership of the key so you can delete it.

  Restart the remote desktop services service and that should do it, no reboot is necessary. Use at your own risk.

  Just got through this myself. Not sure how or where the change was made (seems a lot of 'strangeness' happened with RDS that can't be explained while I was at SpiceWorld..), but in our case, the Licensing mode for the deployment had been changed from Per User to Per Device. Flipping that back got the rest of our users up and running.

  Now to find out who's trying to kill me via stress..

  I know a lot of people including myself were concerned with 'why'. Most importantly so we could make sure something like that doesn't reoccur on tons of work stations. And having to go around and edit registries on workstations seems.. like a bandaid (which a lot of us aren't content with). I think I may have figured out the why, or gotten on the right track. But I'm not an expert in terminal services. See below:

  When a client—either a user or a device—connects to an RD Session Host server (term changed from terminal services host), the RD Session Host server (terminal server) determines if an RDS CAL is needed. The RD Session Host server then requests an RDS CAL from a Remote Desktop license server on behalf of the client attempting to connect to the RD Session Host server. If an appropriate RDS CAL is available from a license server, the RDS CAL is issued to the client, and the client is able to connect to the RD Session Host server.

  Although there is a licensing grace period during which no license server is required (I believe the default is 120 days), after the grace period ends, clients must have a valid RDS CAL issued by a license server before they can log on to an RD Session Host server.

  deleting the whole MS licensing key and then running RDC as admin worked !
